Ever wanted to try your hand at the pottery wheel? Now's your chance!

At Glen Wardle Ceramics, our 2-hour "Have A Go" Taster Session is a fun, relaxed introduction to wheel throwing — perfect for beginners, date nights, catch-ups with friends, or anyone wanting to try something creative and hands-on.

Here's what to expect:

You'll start with a wheel throwing demonstration and be introduced to the basics — the wheel, the tools, and how to centre your clay. Centring is the foundation of every piece, and once you've got the feel for it, you'll have a go at throwing a cylinder or bowl — the starting point for most pots and vessels.

Then the fun really begins! You'll get to make as many pots as time allows — a little vase, a small bowl, whatever takes your fancy. It's a great way to get comfortable with the clay and try out different techniques.

What sets us apart? You'll have unlimited clay during your session! All our clay is recycled, so if you have a flop (and everyone does at first!), you're not wasting a thing — just squish it up and start again.

At the end of your session, you'll choose your 3 favourite pieces to keep. I'll turn the bases, bisque fire them, and then glaze and fire them in either a matt white or gloss white glaze. The full process takes around 3–4 weeks, and I'll be in touch when your pieces are ready to collect.
